Renault is about to expand its SUV lineup and it will be built by their RenaultSport division.
In association with the team will be the Nissan Nismo tuning division to build the next best SUV for the brand.
The upcoming models will be the Kadjar and the Captur tuned by the Renaultsport division. Some of the images of the models have emerged online and they have been posted here so that you could get a fair idea of how they would look like. Bruno Ancelin, executive vice president of product planning and program said, “At the moment, we have some prototypes ready for SUVs and they will be produced in due time. Many of our competitors have been working on performance driven models and the models from Renault will reflect the same. The same is applicable for the Captur and the Nissan Juke.”
With a strong partnership between the Renaultsport and the Nissan’s Nismo division, the companies are capable of producing hot models that are sure to strike the right chord among their customers. He added that the team has the Nismo but there is no Micra Nismo while the Renaultsport Clio is another good example. In a simple perspective, the brands look forward to enhancing their presence in the market by offering cars that really matter and stay ahead of their competition.
There is no specific timeline for the Renaultsport Kadjar and other SUV models to be available in the dealership stores. Ancelin however confirmed that customers may not have to wait that long to get their hands on the new SUVs. “The SUV segment is growing at a rapid pace throughout the globe and sporty SUVs are all the rage right now. We would love to bank on the situation and offer some high performance models to keep buyers interested,” he said.
Porsche has done a very good job with the Macan, according to him and the company is keen on making the RenaultSport version of the SUVs to be on par with the Macan. The Captur and the Kadjar are already using Nissan’s Juke, Qashqai platforms. The RS Captur will be on the same lines as the Juke NISMO. The NISMO’s current edition is powered by a 1.6-liter turbo engine delivering up to 197 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in about 7.5 seconds. A front wheel drive is what the brand has planned for the upcoming range of SUVs.
