The longer, the better! With a view to offer more comfort and add-in some features, Porsche has launched the new Panamera with a longer wheelbase.
The car was originally scheduled to be revealed at the LA Motor show to take place next week. With just days to go, it might be surprising as to why the company would bring it early without much fanfare. Being the last big auto expo of the year, the Las Vegas auto show has garnered a lot of attention and is going to be crowded without questions. However, the spot may be rather populated by cars from all brands making it difficult for Porsche to hog the limelight to their own launches.
Apart from the long wheelbase Panamera which is an Executive model, Porsche has also launched another entry level variant powered by a 3.6-liter V6 turbo engine. The powertrain is capable of delivering up to 326 horsepower which is quite high for any car but for a brand like Porsche, it’s addressed as “entry level”. The new model is priced at a moderate £66,386 allowing those interested in fast cars to buy them.
The big launch is the Executive variant which boasts of a larger wheelbase measured at 150mm. It gives increased headroom and legroom for rear passengers. The changes are not limited to the exterior of the car but goes all the way to the inside with some exquisite additions. The model has heated seats, multi-way power adjustment rear seats, panoramic roof and an adaptive air suspension. There’s a damper system which can be controlled electronically and is available as a standard equipment.
An optional choice is to equip the rear end of the Porsche Panamera with a center console. The driver is no longer the only person to control the functions in the car, as rear seat passengers can customize things as they like to with this console. With this package, the designers will also include two folding tables similar to the ones found on airplanes. A rear seat entertainment package will upgrade and add two 10.1-inch displays to the rear seats to watch movies, music on the go. You can choose to mount your own tablets in the same slot provided by Porsche.
Under the hood, the Porsche Panamera Executive is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 turbo engine offering 20 horsepower more than the previous edition. It’s also economically designed to offer the best fuel efficiency at 37 miles per gallon. An eight speed PDK gearbox is connected to the engine. Executive model is priced at £76,034 in UK.
