With two high profile Black politicians on trial in the House on complex ethics charges, voter apathy in the African-American community could start to build. If Blacks stay home this November, what should be a bad year for Democrats could turn into a complete disaster.

It was a mixed week for the major markets.
For the week the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 41.32 points or 0.40%.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index dropped -1.06 points or -0.10%,
The Nasdaq Composite dropped -14.77 points or -0.65%.

For nearly 3 months the world was mesmerized by watching the live feed of oil gushing from the bottom of the Gulf. Now, only a few weeks after the leak was capped, crews are having trouble finding any of the spilled oil to clean up. Despite hundreds of boats and spotter planes looking for spilled oil, there is little to be found.

It is mixed news for BP. Crews have returned to the Gulf after heading to shore in advance of tropical storm “Bonnie”. The storm, which never came close to hurricane strength, fell apart over the weekend. During the evacuation period the cap which had been in placed over the rupture continued to hold, effectively stopping the leak.

Former Gov. Howard Dean was in rare form on Fox News Sunday. Before his bizarre meltdown on national television in 2004 he was the front runner for the Democratic nominee for president. He has been known for saying many outrageous things in his career on Sunday he moved the bar.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index gained 37.78 points or 3.55%
The Nasdaq Composite gained 90.42 points or 4.15%

No one should be surprised. When the Democrat’s newest senator, Carte Goodwin (D-WV) arrived in Washington this week he had already made his position clear. He is from a coal producing state and he had no intention of voting for any climate bill that would cost his state jobs. Period.

There is an old expression in Washington, “I don’t know if I’m going to heaven or hell, but I pray the decision is made by the House Ethic Committee.”

Bill Clinton famously pointed out in 1992, “It’s the economy, stupid.” Apparently the Democrats have forgotten this simple idea.
