Viagra, Cialis, Seniors and STD

Considering the health risk factors involved; it may be time you sit down with your parents or grandparents and have “The Talk” about the birds and bees and STDs.

“Black Flight” to the Suburbs

Recently a series of major newspapers and internet stories have highlighted a growing problem for major cities. These stories are coming from incredibly diverse sources such as the Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Bay View and NPR. Middle-class African-Americans have given up on crime and lousy schools and are heading to the suburbs.

America is Getting Grumpy

Americans by nature are optimist but lately they’ve starting to get a bit grumpy. According to a recent Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll more than six out of ten (62%) feel the country is on the wrong track. This is a seven point drop in a month and the lowest level of the entire time President Obama has been in the White House.

Judge Googles Viacom

In the clash of titans – Media giant Viacom and Online powerhouse Google – a federal judge has sided with the search engine in a $1 billion dollar copyright infringement lawsuit.

Obama stays the “Course”

The mainstream media (MSM) was in a snit. It seems BP CEO Tony Hayward had the nerve to go yachting over the weekend instead of working on the Oil Spill. Oddly they didn’t have the same reaction when President Obama and VP Biden loaded the sticks in the trunk and headed to the links on Saturday.

Administration Mortgage Aid Program Craters

The Obama Administrations highly touted plan to help low income people keep their homes has been an unmitigated failure. Of the 1.24 million who have enrolled since March of 2009, 436,000 borrowers, roughly 35%, have dropped out.

I had to cringe the other day when yet another report about the dangers of skin cancer rumbled across the internet. While it is true we should all avoid getting a sun burn and anyone who uses a tanning bed without a valid medical reason is a vain idiot, we may be taking it too far.

Another Reason to Hate Soccer

Soccer is easily the most boring competitive game ever created and the “men” who play it are the biggest wimps on the planet. Someone brushes up against them and they fall to the ground writhing like they are trying to stop the flow from a compound fracture. The crocodile tears flow as they are carted to the sideline. There the trainer, who obviously spends the off-season “laying hands” on cripples in revival tents, performs yet another miracle.

Movie Review: Avatar on DVD

If I had to make a list of my top five favorite movies of all time Avatar would instantly be on the list. I would have to think about the other four to include. Okay, I admit it. I’m a sucker for Hollywood formula movies. I go to the local multiplex to be entertained and not depressed. Art films = boring. Chick flicks = naptime

Review: BBC America “Doctor Who”

You have to hold your breath every time “The Doctor” “regenerates.” Will you like the new Doctor, especially since David Tennant was so good? What about his “companion”? What will she be like?
