When creating a luxury sedan, it is usual that the buyers expect it to sport one of the powerful engines in the market. However, the 2016 Audi A6 makes an unconventional claim and proves everyone wrong.
The budget friendly sedans and many other vehicles are usually powered by a four cylinder engine. It is considered to be low on power, great on mileage and an inexpensive variant that one could go for. Using such a small engine in luxury sedans and SUVs was unheard of a couple of years ago, but is becoming more mainstream these days. The new Audi A6 is a good example of the same.
In an attempt to appease the government which demands higher fuel efficiency, Audi has equipped its latest A6 with a smaller engine. It has also been made possible because of innovative technologies like direct injection and turbocharging methods. The only drawback is its price tag, which is $55,000, something that you could hardly consider to be cheap even from a rich man’s perspective.
At such pricing, one would expect the vehicle to sport the top end variant of the engine to render amazing power and performance. The 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine is used in a wide range of vehicles including the Volkswagen GTI and even Audi’s own A3 as well as the A4. However, the question comes into the picture when it is used in such a luxurious sedan. Surprisingly, if you are a daily commuter with little expectation, the engine can easily satisfy what you are looking for.
It renders a decent 252 horsepower, which is by no means breathtaking, but enough to keep the sedan moving with good acceleration and reliable top speed. The sedan uses a Quattro all-wheel drive which makes the car extremely reliable on any type of road, irrespective of the weather condition. While it may seem Audi has compromised on the engine, they have not and the vehicle is exquisitely designed on the interior and the exterior.
The wooden finished interiors, combined with multiple modes to choose from, makes it a driver’s delight. It can also offer a decent 30 miles per gallon on a highway which makes it fuel efficient, a factor seldom associated with a high end vehicle like the A6. The car is exceptionally huge, reminds you of a limo in size and comfort level.
With everything in place, the 2016 Audi A6 is a complete package with hardly any compromise made.
